Ripple CEO Blames Democrats' Politics for CLARITY Act Failure
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has attributed the failure of the CLARITY Act to advance in the Senate to 'the politics' of Democrats.
The bill aimed to establish clear regulations for the cryptocurrency industry, but it was met with opposition from Democratic lawmakers who felt its ethics provisions did not go far enough to address potential conflicts involving President Donald Trump's crypto interests.
Garlinghouse stated that the setback 'stings' as consumers and U.S. competitiveness were left behind, but he expressed optimism for crypto in the United States, citing the SEC and CFTC's ongoing rulemaking efforts.
Ripple plans to remain actively involved in this process, which includes joint guidance issued by the two agencies on how federal securities laws apply to crypto assets.
