Ripple CEO Disavows 'XRP Maximalist' Label Amid Growing Crypto Competition
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has pushed back against accusations of being an XRP maximalist, stating that he is bullish on multiple cryptocurrencies and believes different assets can serve different purposes.
In a recent interview, Garlinghouse acknowledged the growing competition between major networks, but emphasized that it's not about loyalty or allegiance to a particular asset. Instead, he said the focus should be on which blockchain can solve specific problems.
Garlinghouse pointed out that XRP has utility in international payments, particularly in scenarios where digital assets can act as bridges between currencies and payment systems. However, he also acknowledged that stablecoins could perform the same function if they offer the most effective solution for a particular customer.
Ripple's own expansion into stablecoins through RLUSD is seen as part of this broader approach, with Garlinghouse stating that his company has positioned itself around payments infrastructure and institutional digital assets rather than relying solely on XRP for growth.
