Ripple CEO Says US Lags Behind on Crypto Regulation

Share

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse spoke at length about his recent meetings with the White House and CFTC, sharing his thoughts on the current regulatory landscape.

The events were part of a broader effort by the Trump administration to discuss cryptocurrency regulations, particularly the CLARITY Act. The legislation has been stalled in Congress over issues such as ethics provisions and stablecoin rewards.

Garlinghouse noted that even though there was broad agreement among participants from traditional finance and crypto industries, old rules are no longer sufficient for the current market environment.

The Ripple CEO emphasized that the US is behind other countries in terms of regulatory clarity and that this lack of clear rules has hindered innovation. He pointed to his 2019 open letter urging authorities to create clearer rules for cryptocurrency.
