Ripple CEO Sees Silver Lining in CLARITY Act Defeat, Eyes SEC and CFTC Rulemaking
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has expressed optimism about US crypto markets despite the failure of the CLARITY Act to advance in the Senate. The legislation, which aimed to provide a clearer framework for digital assets, was rejected in a 49-50 vote on September 15.
Garlinghouse blamed the Democrats for the bill's failure, stating that 'the politics of the democrats (the anti-crypto army) was elevated over good policy.' He emphasized that the company had given its all to get the legislation passed and called for a post-mortem to examine why it failed.
Despite the setback, Garlinghouse remains optimistic about the future of US crypto markets. He pointed to the ongoing rulemaking process at the SEC and CFTC as a key area of focus. 'There is still reason for optimism for crypto in the United States,' he said.
Ripple's business momentum remains strong, according to Garlinghouse, with real demand across traditional finance and the digital asset ecosystem. The company has been positioning Ripple USD (RLUSD) for broader institutional use while highlighting the importance of stablecoin regulation.
