Ripple Ditches Own Bridge for Axelar in Major Network Overhaul
Ripple has announced its intention to withdraw the XLS-38 amendment on the XRPL, which would remove over 10,000 lines of inactive code. This decision comes after realizing that Axelar already handles bridging for the XRPL EVM Sidechain.
The native bridging feature, known as XChainBridge, was designed to allow XRPL to move assets to and from other chains without relying on an external company. However, with Axelar's capabilities, Ripple believes it is safer for the network to rely on an external cross-chain network rather than implementing its own.
The withdrawal of XLS-38 would simplify the XRPL codebase and potentially improve protocol security and adoption across the crypto and DeFi spaces.
