Ripple Donates $300K to Nepal, Tibet Flood Relief Efforts
Ripple has pledged $300,000 to aid relief efforts in Nepal and Tibet following devastating floods. The funding will be directed towards World Central Kitchen and Mercy Corps, with a focus on providing meals, safe drinking water, and sanitation for affected communities.
The partnership between Ripple and the two humanitarian organizations is not new; they have collaborated on past projects, including a drought insurance pilot in Kenya using RLUSD and satellite data to automate aid payouts. This tech-optimized approach can settle emergency funds in hours instead of days.
According to UNICEF, at least 17,000 children have been affected by the floods, with 18 schools destroyed and another 20 damaged in Nepal alone. The agency is calling for $17.2 million to stabilize children's health, nutrition, and safety.
