Ripple Fights On Amid Clarity Act Setback
Ripple expressed disappointment over the failure of the Clarity Act to advance in the Senate. The bill aimed to provide a clear framework for the digital asset industry, giving consumers meaningful protections and responsible companies predictable rules.
The company had advocated for the bill since 2019, pushing for a strong market structure that would have given the US a competitive edge in the future of finance.
Ripple's position on XRP remains unchanged despite the setback. The company secured a landmark victory in 2023, establishing that XRP is not a security, and this was further solidified by the SEC and CFTC joint interpretation naming XRP a digital commodity in March 2026.
The failure of the Clarity Act means that responsible businesses will continue to rely on litigation to understand how the law applies to them. Ripple will continue advocating for market structure legislation and engaging with policymakers, as well as working with regulatory agencies such as the SEC and CFTC to fill the legislative gap through clear rulemaking.
