Ripple Launches XRP Asia as Part of 2027 Push for Expanded Customer Activity
XRP Asia has launched in Singapore as part of Ripple's broader push to increase customer activity on the XRP Ledger in 2027. The new organization will support builders, startups, and regional communities across Asia, with a focus on building from established communities in Korea and Japan.
The launch is linked to Ripple's 1 billion XRP developer commitment, which includes tens of millions of dollars targeted toward opportunities in the Japanese and Korean markets. This expansion also follows earlier ecosystem investment by Ripple, including university blockchain research across South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, and Australia.
Ripple plans to route more customer payment volume onto XRPL in 2027, with a strategy that includes infrastructure already built for payments and an expanded pilot using the ledger's decentralized exchange within the company's payments operations. The company also aims to deepen its credit business by connecting payment customers with XRPL lending infrastructure.
XLS-66, a proposed amendment to the XRP Ledger, would enable fixed-term uncollateralized loans funded through pooled assets held in Single Asset Vaults. However, validator approval is still required before mainnet activation.
