Ripple Pledges $1M+ to NYUAD Blockchain Research Through 2027

Share

Ripple has extended its support for New York University Abu Dhabi's (NYUAD) blockchain research program through 2027, renewing a partnership that began in 2021. The extension comes as part of Ripple's University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI), which now spans over 60 universities across 27 countries and supports more than 1,500 research projects.

The partnership with NYUAD will focus on applied blockchain research, including the use of decentralized technologies to improve market efficiency and reduce trade barriers. The university will also continue its work on the Volta Initiative, a serverless mobile application using blockchain infrastructure to support trade among smallholder farmers in Ghana.

Ripple has committed over $1 million to the partnership since 2024, with the latest grant supporting research into the potential of decentralized technologies to improve access to economic opportunities. The company's Middle East and Africa managing director, Reece Merrick, highlighted the extension as a significant development for the region's blockchain ecosystem.
