Ripple Pledges $300,000 for Nepal Flood Relief Efforts

Ripple has pledged $300,000 to support emergency relief efforts following devastating floods in Nepal and Tibet. The blockchain payments company made this commitment on August 28, directing the funds to World Central Kitchen and Mercy Corps as humanitarian agencies respond to one of the region's deadliest natural disasters.

The scale of the disaster is catastrophic, with at least 669 people confirmed dead in Nepal and seven more in Tibet, according to Reuters. Nearly 3,000 remain missing, while Nepalese officials estimate reconstruction costs could reach $5 billion.

The flooding was caused by the collapse of glacial material near the Nepal-China border, unleashing a destructive surge through settlements and transport corridors. Roads, bridges, power infrastructure, and buildings were swept away, complicating rescue and supply operations.
