Ripple Powers Crypto Custody for Major African Bank Absa
Ripple's custody infrastructure is now directly integrated into Absa Corporate and Investment Banking in Africa. The partnership allows institutional clients to store cryptocurrencies, such as XRP, and tokenized assets securely within a regulated banking setup.
Absa Head of Digital Product, Custody Robyn Lawson stated that the bank chose Ripple's technology due to its high security and operational standards.
The launch comes after a partnership announced in October 2025, when Absa became Ripple's first major custody partner in Africa. With Absa managing over $119.5 billion in assets, this deal gives Ripple a significant banking partner for expanding digital asset custody services across the continent.
Ripple is also expanding its regional presence through partnerships like Chipper Cash on crypto-based cross-border payments and the RLUSD stablecoin with Chipper Cash, VALR, and Yellow Card.
