Ripple Pursues Protocol-Level Privacy for XRP Ledger
Ripple is pushing for protocol-level privacy on its XRP Ledger (XRPL) as banks and financial institutions increasingly use tokenized assets on public blockchain infrastructure.
Ayo Akinyele, RippleX engineering leader, emphasized the importance of privacy alongside trust, scalability, and institutional infrastructure during the XRP Seoul 2026 event. This direction builds upon Ripple's existing privacy roadmap, which argues that regulated finance requires confidentiality without sacrificing auditability or the neutrality of public blockchain infrastructure.
Ripple is not proposing a private version of XRPL but instead developing selective confidentiality directly at the protocol level. The network is focusing on hiding amounts, not accountability.
