Ripple Scores Major Regulatory Win in Luxembourg, But XRP Price Falters
Ripple has received its Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP) license from Luxembourg's regulatory body, the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF). This brings Ripple's total global regulatory licenses to over 75. The CASP authorization is seen as a major win for the company, as it unlocks new opportunities for financial institutions to partner with Ripple.
Ripple's EU license will enable banks and other financial institutions to offer digital asset solutions to their customers. In fact, 72% of European fintechs believe that digital asset solutions will become a required offering for financial institutions by 2026, according to Ripple's own research. This is why regulatory clarity has been the top concern holding firms back from adopting digital assets.
Ripple's infrastructure has already been used by BBVA to build digital asset custody for retail customers in Spain and by DZ BANK to launch one of Germany's first institutional digital asset custody platforms. Ripple Payments now supports payouts across 60-plus markets on 51 real-time payment rails, backed by over $100 billion in total volume processed.
Despite this positive news, the price of XRP has fallen. The cryptocurrency is currently trading at a two-month low, with the Supertrend indicator showing a bearish trend. The measured move from the descending triangle breakdown targets $0.90 to $0.92.
