Ripple Sees 'Light Switch Flip' in Banking Adoption of Blockchain
Ripple President Monica Long says that traditional financial institutions have passed a turning point in their adoption of blockchain technology, comparing it to a 'light switch flip' from isolated tests to actual tokenized funds issuance. She notes that this shift has been accelerated by the institutional demand for on-chain solutions, with $3.97 billion already being held on the XRPL as per RWA.xyz.
Long emphasizes that Ripple's goal is to provide a full digital asset lifecycle on the network, where stablecoins like the $759.67 million Ripple USD (RLUSD) form the underlying liquidity foundation. The infrastructure deal addresses the market's technical needs following the launch of a dollar liquidity fund by investment giant Aviva Investors on the XRPL.
The Central Bank of Ireland's approval of the project served as a key trigger for expanding the ecosystem and legitimizing traditional capital on a public ledger. Long's statement about capital moving into a 24/7 on-chain environment builds directly on this regulatory precedent, supported by an influx of new participants into the network's RWA segment.
