Ripple-SWIFT Connection Sparks Speculation, But What's the Reality?
The Ripple-XRP community is abuzz with speculation about a potential partnership between SWIFT and Ripple, following their presence at Sibos 2026 in Miami. While neither company has announced any new XRP-related plans, there are genuine connections between the two entities.
Ripple Treasury already lists a relationship with SWIFT through its treasury-management infrastructure inherited from GTreasury's acquisition. This platform supports SWIFT connectivity and displays SWIFT Compatible Application certification for cash management. However, this existing relationship primarily focuses on connecting corporate treasury systems to banks and the SWIFT messaging infrastructure.
SWIFT is pushing deeper into blockchain with its shared ledger, being developed with major global banks to enable always-on cross-border transactions using regulated digital value, including tokenized bank deposits. So far, however, XRP has not been named as part of this architecture. Former SWIFT Chief Innovation Officer Tom Zschach dismissed XRP integration speculation earlier this year.
