Ripple Targets 2027 Launch for Credit Services Using XRP Collateral
Ripple is planning to launch credit services using XRP collateral to fund customer payments in 2027. The company's president, Monica Long, explained that many of its payment customers already use short-term credit and have access to financing for their operations.
The credit initiative would connect lending protocols with Ripple's payment infrastructure, creating another use case for XRP within the financial services business. This would extend the role of XRP beyond its bridge-currency function, where it is currently used as a means of exchanging value between different currencies.
Ripple plans to expand its use of the XRPL decentralized exchange in 2027, following a successful pilot that demonstrated its benefits. The company aims to make exchange functionality a core component of its payment infrastructure engine.
