Ripple's strategic partnership with SettleMint aims to simplify digital asset custody for financial institutions in Asia. The collaboration will integrate Ripple Custody and SettleMint's Digital Asset Lifecycle Platform (DALP) to provide a less complex way for institutions to secure digital assets.

The partnership comes as the Asia-Pacific region sees significant growth in on-chain crypto activity, with a 69% year-over-year increase in value received according to Chainalysis' 2025 global adoption index. This growth is partly due to countries in the region developing their own cryptocurrency regulatory frameworks.

Japan's parliament recently passed revisions classifying crypto assets as financial assets under the country's Financial Instruments and Exchange Act. Japanese Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama has signaled intent to bring crypto under the same umbrella as traditional finance assets to ensure citizens benefit from digital and blockchain-based assets.
