Ripple Unlocks 1 Billion XRP, But Not All Enters Circulation
Ripple has completed its monthly escrow release of XRP for October. The total amount unlocked is 1 billion XRP, which is in line with the company's established practice of releasing this amount at the beginning of each month.
The four transactions reported by Whale Alert saw a total of $1.28 billion worth of XRP released from escrow. These amounts are: 400 million XRP valued at $595.6 million, 200 million XRP valued at $297.8 million, 300 million XRP valued at $446.7 million, and 100 million XRP valued at $148.9 million.
Ripple typically returns a significant portion of the unlocked XRP to its escrow accounts. The company has stated that it usually returns between 700-800 million XRP. As such, not all of the 1 billion XRP released will enter circulation.
