Ripple Unlocks $1.47 Billion Worth of XRP on October 1

Ripple is preparing to unlock 1 billion XRP on October 1, in its tenth monthly escrow release of the year. This marks a continuation of the company's long-standing schedule established when it introduced its escrow program back in 2017.

The upcoming release has a notional value of $1.47 billion at the current price of $1.47 per XRP. However, not all of the unlocked tokens will enter circulation, as Ripple typically returns most of them to new escrow contracts.

In fact, following the previous unlock on September 1, the company put 700 million XRP back into escrow accounts, leaving only around 200-300 million additional tokens in circulation per month. This suggests that the actual increase in potentially circulating XRP has been limited.
