Ripple Unlocks $1.5 Billion Worth of XRP on October 1

Ripple is set to release nearly $1.5 billion worth of XRP next week as part of its ongoing supply management program.

The October 1 release will unlock 1 billion XRP from Ripple's escrow accounts, which were established in 2017 to make token distributions predictable.

Although the actual increase in circulating supply is typically lower than the headline figure due to some of the unlocked tokens being returned to new escrow contracts, the event remains closely watched by investors and traders.

Large XRP holders have been increasing their exposure to the asset in recent days, with over 470 million XRP being accumulated by whales between September 21 and September 24.
