Ripple Unveils XRPL Roadmap with Confidential Transfers and AI Agent Support
Ripple's Senior Director of Engineering, Ayo Akinyele, unveiled an engineering roadmap for the XRP Ledger at the XRP Seoul 2026 conference. The roadmap focuses on expanding the network's capabilities, including confidential transfers, transaction batching, and AI agent support.
The confidential transfer feature, powered by zero-knowledge proofs, will allow institutions to keep sensitive transaction information private while still proving their validity to the network and regulators. This is a significant development, as traditional financial institutions often struggle with full on-chain transparency.
Ripple is also working on formal verification, adversarial testing, and transaction batching to make the network more suitable for complex financial operations. This will enable developers and institutions to build more sophisticated applications on top of the XRP Ledger.
The company is also developing infrastructure for AI agents, which have already generated significant activity on XRPL, with over 11 million transactions. The goal is to allow AI agents to transact autonomously while operating within predefined safeguards, taking advantage of the XRP Ledger's settlement speed of roughly three to five seconds.
