Ripple's Absa Custody Platform Launches in South Africa
Africa's institutional crypto market has reached a new threshold with the launch of Absa Digital Asset Custody, a live platform built on Ripple's custody technology. This is a major milestone for bank-grade digital asset infrastructure on the continent.
The roots of this launch go back to October 2025, when CoinGape first reported Ripple's partnership with Absa, which outlined the plan to bring regulated digital asset storage to corporate banking clients. Today, that agreement has become a named product.
Absa Digital Asset Custody provides institutional clients with private-key management, transaction and approval controls, and bank-grade governance and compliance wrapping. The platform is designed for clients who already trust Absa with traditional assets and now want the same security standard applied to digital holdings.
