Ripple's Alderoty Calls for Industry Coordination After CLARITY Act Defeat
Ripple's Chief Legal Officer Stuart Alderoty is calling for greater coordination among cryptocurrency companies after the CLARITY Act failed to advance in the Senate. The bill, which aimed to establish clearer jurisdiction and operating rules for cryptocurrency markets, was rejected by a vote of 49-50.
Alderoty argued that the setback exposed divisions within the industry's messaging and political support surrounding digital asset legislation. He pointed out that the failure to pass the bill is not a rejection of cryptocurrency adoption or the need for federal regulations.
According to Alderoty, the industry has too many competing voices pushing different messages, which weakened their position. He called on the industry to 'speak with one voice through one megaphone.'
