Ripple's Brazil Deal Hits Snag as XRP Price Fails to React
Ripple has announced a major partnership with Brazil's CSD BR, a licensed securities depository that holds over BRL 22 trillion in registered assets. This is part of Ripple's efforts to expand its presence in Latin America.
The deal allows CSD BR to mirror investment fund shares on the XRP Ledger, making it possible for authorized participants to check and audit records in near real-time. The setup uses XRPL's Multi-Purpose Token (MPT) standard for tokenization, and access is limited to Brazilian corporate and banking clients that have cleared KYC and AML checks.
Ripple provides the custody infrastructure for the partnership, which fits within Brazil's existing rules and required no new regulatory approval. CSD BR retains full control over issuance, with powers to approve participants, freeze assets, and reverse transactions on regulatory or court orders.
