Ripple has announced plans to let payment customers use XRP held in lending pools as collateral for short-term financing. This move could allow eligible institutions to fund payment obligations without selling their underlying XRP. The company reportedly began testing this concept and is targeting broader deployment by 2027.

The service, still in development, will depend on institutional adoption, collateral requirements, and implementation. Ripple President Monica Long made the announcement at XRP Seoul on October 3. No commitment to process trillions of dollars through XRP has been announced.
