Ripple's RLUSD Surpasses $2 Billion Market Cap Amid Institutional Push
Ripple's dollar-backed stablecoin RLUSD has reached a significant milestone, surpassing $2 billion in market capitalization. This achievement marks a substantial acceleration in the company's push to establish a foothold in the institutional digital asset market since the token's launch in December 2024.
Vet, a validator on the XRP Ledger's decentralized unique node list, acknowledged the milestone, describing RLUSD as the fastest-growing stablecoin regulated by the New York Department of Financial Services. The pace of expansion underscores Ripple's strategy of positioning the asset for institutional applications rather than retail trading.
RLUSD is designed to maintain a one-to-one peg with the U.S. dollar, backed by segregated reserves of cash and cash equivalents. Ripple says its reserves undergo monthly attestations by an independent U.S.-licensed certified public accountant, a transparency mechanism that could prove increasingly valuable as federal stablecoin regulation takes shape.
