Ripple's Stablecoin Business Expands, XRP Ledger Sees AI Growth
Ripple's stablecoin business continued to expand in July, with RLUSD entering new markets and gaining traction. The company partnered with OpenUSD to integrate its dollar-pegged stablecoin, marking another step towards positioning RLUSD as a regulated stablecoin for global payments and tokenized finance.
RLUSD was approved by Japan's Financial Services Agency (JFSA) for use in the country through SBI VC Trade. The asset has grown in terms of usage and market capitalization, with its market value reaching $1.6 billion on August 1.
Ripple also introduced Ripple Mint, a platform designed to help financial institutions issue, manage, and redeem RLUSD more effectively. This complements the company's growing payments ecosystem and reflects its increasing focus on serving banks, fintech firms, and enterprise clients entering the cryptocurrency space.
The XRP Ledger has seen significant growth in AI activity, with over 1.4 million transactions initiated by AI agents as of July 22. This milestone highlights the growing experimentation with autonomous applications and machine-to-machine payments.
