Ripple's Tokenization Ambitions: Connecting Custody to Trillions
Ripple is building an infrastructure for tokenization by connecting its custody platform with issuance, compliance, and settlement capabilities. This move positions Ripple as a key player in the potential $88 trillion market of digital real-world assets by 2035, according to Boston Consulting Group.
The new partnership with SettleMint connects Ripple Custody with infrastructure for issuing, managing, and servicing tokenized assets across their lifecycle. This builds on previous deals, including investments in ZILO and Licuido, which added regulated transfer agency, issuance, and collateral-mobility capabilities to Ripple's infrastructure.
The XRP Ledger is designed to support the issuance, transfer, and exchange of real-world assets, making it an attractive platform for institutions looking to tokenize their assets. The Aviva Investors' tokenized share class of its U.S. Dollar Liquidity Fund on XRPL in July demonstrates this potential.
