Ripple's XRP Comments Resurface Amid Multi-Asset Payments Strategy
Ripple's CEO Brad Garlinghouse made comments on January 22 about XRP being a suitable bridge asset for cross-border payments, but his remarks were recently resurfaced on social media.
Garlinghouse stated that XRP may be the best choice for some transactions, but added that a stablecoin could solve customer needs more effectively in other cases.
This framing is consistent with Ripple's current multi-asset payments model, which allows settlement in various currencies, including RLUSD and USDC. The platform decouples the settlement layer from any single issuer's token, enabling the addition of new stablecoins without rebuilding infrastructure.
Ripple claims that its network handles collections, digital-asset conversion, and payouts across more than 60 markets, with over $100 billion in payment volume processed to date.
