Ripple's XRP Ledger Sees Success with PermissionDelegationV1_1 Amendment
The XRP Ledger's PermissionDelegationV1_1 amendment has passed its two-week activation period, receiving approval from 29 validators. This corrected replacement for a prior version of Permission Delegation contains fixes to a critical bug that was present in the original implementation.
The new feature allows regulated asset issuers to delegate specific authorities to other accounts without transferring signing keys, providing separation of duties at the protocol level. Ripple's stablecoin product lead, Lauren Berta, sees this upgrade as key for institutional capabilities, particularly for RLUSD, which is being built and tested in a development environment.
The activation timeline places the vote in close proximity to Ripple Swell, the company's annual conference scheduled for October 27-29. For now, the focus remains on whether validator consensus holds above 80% through October 5, determining the success of the PermissionDelegationV1_1 amendment.
