Ripple's XRP Ledger Upgrade Nears Activation with 30 Validator Backing
Ripple's XRP Ledger is set to receive an upgrade that will enable linked transactions to settle together or fail together as one operation. The new feature, called Batch V1.1, has received support from 30 out of 35 validators and is scheduled for activation after September 29 if it maintains the required 80% support.
The upgrade was developed after a critical signature-validation flaw was discovered in an earlier version, Batch V1.0. The issue allowed an attacker to include unauthorized transactions from another account without authorization.
Ayo Akinyele, head of engineering at RippleX, explained that the new feature is particularly relevant for delivery-versus-payment use cases, where an asset transfer and its matching payment need to settle atomically rather than leaving one side exposed.
Ripple plans to share more information on partners and launch timing once the feature is live. Commercial users are already preparing for the upgrade, which has the potential to widen its use across digital-asset services by enabling exchanges, wallets, and marketplaces to bundle customer payments with platform fees in a single operation.
