RLUSD Aims for $13 Trillion Market Amid CLARITY Act Vote Tensions
Ripple's stablecoin RLUSD is taking center stage as it aims to tap into a massive market of corporate treasuries valued at $13 trillion, according to Ripple's Stablecoin Chief Jack Mcdonald. Tony Edward, host of the Thinking Crypto podcast, highlighted this opportunity in his latest video. He noted that payments and capital markets are driving the growth of stablecoins.
Edward pointed out that Clearpool Finance is proposing to migrate to the XRP Ledger based on new lending standards for institutional credit products. Ripple has also committed to investing in XRP and RLUSD yield products, but Edward remains bullish on XRP despite its current market situation. He believes that institutions are interested in tokenized finance, as evident from the potential market of $13 trillion for RLUSD.
The focus on RLUSD comes ahead of a key week in U.S. legislation, with the Senate set to vote on the CLARITY Act on September 15. White House crypto director Patrick Whitt and billionaire investor Mike Novogratz have expressed optimism about the bill's prospects, while Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong has called it 'right at the finish line'. The passage of the CLARITY Act could lay the groundwork for wider regulation of the U.S. crypto sector and improve market sentiment.
