RLUSD Drives XRP Ledger Stablecoin Supply to $1.33 Billion
The stablecoin supply on the XRP Ledger has surged to approximately $1.33 billion, marking a 14.6% increase over just seven days. This growth, driven by RLUSD, Ripple’s stablecoin, has pushed the network closer to the stablecoin rankings of platforms like Avalanche and Plasma.
RLUSD dominates the stablecoin liquidity on the XRP Ledger, accounting for around 93% of the total supply. With $1.24 billion in on-chain liquidity and a global circulation exceeding $2.4 billion, RLUSD is backed by more than $2.53 billion in segregated reserves, ensuring a 1:1 redeemability for U.S. dollars.
While RLUSD operates on the XRP Ledger, it is distinct from XRP, the network’s native asset. Accounts using RLUSD must establish trust lines, which require an XRP reserve, indirectly linking stablecoin adoption to the base network’s usage. This development, along with other initiatives like FXRP and native lending, highlights the XRP Ledger’s evolution into an ecosystem supporting both XRP settlements and dollar-denominated liquidity.
