RLUSD Expands to South Korea's Top Exchanges
Ripple has expanded its stablecoin RLUSD to four of South Korea's largest cryptocurrency exchanges. Upbit and Bithumb completed the listings, bringing direct won access to the country's top exchanges. This marks a significant expansion for RLUSD, which now trades alongside Bitcoin (BTC) and Tether markets.
According to Ripple Senior Vice President of Stablecoins and Standard Custody CEO Jack McDonald, RLUSD is now live across Korea's four largest exchanges. Upbit & Bithumb, Korea's two largest licensed exchanges, have added direct RLUSD trading, joining Coinone & Korbit. Regulated, fully-reserved access for institutions and retail, direct in KRW.
The listing on Bithumb occurred on July 29, while Upbit announced its support for RLUSD on July 27. This brings the stablecoin to a much larger pool of won-based traders. Ripple has also built operational infrastructure around the reserve model, including the Ripple Mint platform that lets approved institutions mint and redeem RLUSD.
