RLUSD Surpasses $2 Billion in Market Capitalization Amid Ripple's Settlement Ambitions
Ripple's stablecoin RLUSD has surpassed $2 billion in market capitalization, according to Jack McDonald, Ripple's senior vice president responsible for stablecoins. This milestone marks a significant achievement for RLUSD, which was launched less than two years ago.
McDonald emphasized that the $2 billion figure is not just a supply growth headline, but rather a signal that RLUSD is meant to function as dollar-based settlement infrastructure across tokenized finance, payments, and lending. This is in line with Ripple's ambition to position RLUSD as the dollar leg of tokenized-asset trading, with XRP supporting other network activity.
Ripple has invested in ZILO and Licuido to expand digital financial infrastructure around the XRP Ledger, which aligns with a broader pattern of increased XRP Ledger infrastructure access accompanying RLUSD's rollout. The company is pushing RLUSD further into institutional settlement territory, with growth in tokenized real-world assets on the XRP Ledger being a key indicator to watch.
