Robeco Returns to Argentine Equities, Betting on Milei's Economic Reforms

Share

After nearly ten years, Robeco has returned to Argentine equities, joining other institutional investors who believe the country's economic turnaround is genuine. The Dutch asset manager pulled out around 2016-2017 but re-entered Argentina recently due to the economic reforms implemented by President Javier Milei.

Milei's administration has pursued a bold economic agenda, ripping off decades of capital controls and inflation that once exceeded 200% annually.

Argentina's Merval index experienced significant gains in 2024, with some rallies exceeding 60%. The Global X MSCI Argentina ETF has attracted $63 million in inflows year-to-date, making it a notable investment destination.

Crypto investors should take notice of the developments in Argentina, as the country consistently ranks among the top 10 countries globally for cryptocurrency adoption. The $Libra token situation added an extra layer of complexity to Argentina's political landscape.
