Robinhood Crypto has added support for the XDC Network token, making it available to eligible U.S. retail customers starting today. This listing brings the XDC token, which powers a Layer-1 blockchain designed for trade finance and institutional settlement, to Robinhood’s 2.3 million users. The move expands access to a blockchain that has primarily been used by institutions, including banks and trade finance providers.
Ritesh Kakkad, Co-Founder of XDC Network, highlighted the blockchain’s role in trade finance, stating, "We built XDC for the part of finance most people never see, the payments, documents and settlement that keep global trade moving." The integration allows everyday traders to access the same infrastructure relied upon by institutions for cross-border value transfers.
The listing follows significant institutional growth on the XDC Network, with validators including Deutsche Telekom, SBI Holdings, NTT DOCOMO Global, and Clear Street. The network has also formed partnerships with Bridge, a Stripe company, and joined Mastercard’s Crypto Partner Program. Additionally, XDC powers OrbitX’s USDC corporate cards, enabling businesses to spend digital balances on everyday expenses.
Trade finance, though often overlooked, is critical to global trade, with the World Trade Organization estimating that up to 80% of global trade depends on it. XDC Network aims to address inefficiencies in the sector by moving trade documents and payments on-chain, reducing settlement times and costs. Its ISO 20022 compatibility ensures interoperability with existing financial messaging systems.
