Robinhood Brings Leveraged Solana Trading to Retail Investors
Rosy market conditions for Solana (CRYPTO:SOL) just got even brighter, as Robinhood Markets has announced plans to introduce Solana perpetual futures. This new offering will give eligible U.S. customers a platform for leveraged trading on the popular cryptocurrency.
The announcement was made at the HOOD Summit on September 29, alongside futures contracts for other cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC), Ethereum (CRYPTO:ETH), and XRP (CRYPTO:XRP). The new contracts are expected to launch in the coming months. Solana is currently trading at $122, a 65% increase over the last two months, although it's still down 45% from a year ago.
With perpetual futures, traders can mirror the price of Solana without having an expiration date. Instead, they utilize a 'funding payment' between buyers and sellers to keep the contract price in line with the market price of Solana. Robinhood limits leverage for Solana to 3x, meaning a trader putting up $1,000 can control $3,000 worth of Solana.
