Robinhood CEO's X Account Hacked for $1.2M Meme Coin Scam
Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev's X account was hacked on July 23, 2026, with the attackers posting about a new meme coin called VLAD. The post claimed that the token would be added to the Robinhood app and drew over 175,000 views in just 20 minutes before being deleted.
The hackers used the Pons platform on the Robinhood Chain to launch the VLAD token just before the hack. They then used this mechanism six times, netting approximately $1.2 million to $1.3 million in Ethereum (ETH).
The stolen funds and 72 million VLAD tokens were spread across three new crypto wallets. The token generated over 13,273 transactions, with Uniswap trading volume exceeding $22 million in the first few hours.
Robinhood confirmed the hack via its official Comms account and stated that they are working with X to restore access to Tenev's account.
