Robinhood Chain and Tokenized Stocks: A New Era for Online Finance
The Web3 Business Hub held a seminar on September 16th to explore the future of online finance. The event, co-hosted by KudasaiJP and 'atariashi eki', focused on the potential of the Robinhood Chain and tokenized stocks in the development of online financial infrastructure.
Robinhood has grown from a trading app into a full-fledged financial platform handling stocks, cryptocurrencies, and derivatives. Recently, it expanded its role beyond mere trading to become an online financial infrastructure. In July 2026, Robinhood announced the launch of its public mainnet based on Arbitrum's Ethereum Layer 2 technology.
The Robinhood Chain is notable for connecting with various use cases such as wallets, DeFi platforms, lending, collateral utilization, and 24/7 trading through tokenized stocks like Stock Tokens or ETFs. These tokens provide economic exposure to target stocks without directly granting legal rights or entitlements to the underlying assets.
The seminar aimed to discuss the implications of the Robinhood Chain for securities companies and financial apps considering their own chains. It touched on the potential of tokenized stocks, RWA (Risk-Weighted Assets), DeFi connections, and what this might mean for Japan's financial institutions and businesses.
