Robinhood Chain Suffers 14-Minute Block Production Halt

Roland Hoelzl and other users of Robinhood Chain's Layer 2 network experienced a disruption on Friday when block production stalled for over 14 minutes. The halt started at around 12:57 p.m. UTC, leaving token transfers and smart contract transactions stuck during U.S. trading hours.

On-chain data showed a buildup of transactions at the block where production stopped. Despite users submitting new transactions during the outage, the network did not confirm them until block production resumed.

The outage has raised concerns about Robinhood Chain's reliability as blockchain-based financial activity continues to grow. The network accounted for approximately 95% of tokenized-stock holders, alongside BNB Chain and Solana, with over 2.60 million users in August.

Robinhood Markets shares opened at $120.48 on Friday, down from Thursday's close of $124.72. However, the decline was part of a broader market move, and there is no direct connection between the sell-off and the Robinhood Chain outage.
