Robinhood Chain Surges Past 2 Million Monthly Active Users
Rapid growth has propelled Robinhood Chain to over 2 million monthly active users just seven days after it reached 1.6 million, a staggering 50% increase.
This Ethereum Layer-2 network, built on the Arbitrum Orbit stack and launched on July 1, is experiencing explosive adoption rates that are making its competitors take notice.
The chain's total value locked (TVL) has surged to approximately $480 million, a 50% jump over just one week, with daily transactions nearing 10 million. The cumulative decentralized exchange volume during the first three weeks has reached between $8 and $9 billion, mostly driven by memecoin trading.
The chain's user base is still in its early stages, as only about 5.7% of Robinhood's existing 28 million users have started using the chain. However, the platform's 100ms block times and financial services architecture are designed to support tokenized real-world assets and broader DeFi functionality, which could be a key differentiator.
The rapid growth is raising questions about sustainability, as nearly all current activity is speculative memecoin trading. The absence of a native token also means that Robinhood Chain lacks one of the primary mechanisms used by other L2s to incentivize long-term user retention and developer commitment.
