Robinhood Crypto Withdrawals: Why You Can't Get Your Assets Out

Robinhood users have been wondering why they can't withdraw their cryptocurrency assets from the platform. The reason lies in how Robinhood facilitates transactions and holds user funds. When you buy cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (BTC) or Dogecoin on Robinhood using Instant, those transactions don't settle immediately.

This means that it may take up to 5 business days for those transactions to settle, after which users can sell their coins and transfer the balance to an external account. This process is necessary because Robinhood acts as a crypto broker, facilitating transactions and letting users purchase various cryptocurrencies.

However, users must sell their coins first before transferring the funds to their external accounts. The average time for this stage of the process is two trading days, making it available for withdrawal on the third day following a trade. Unfortunately, Robinhood doesn't allow direct transfers of crypto assets between brokerage accounts or exchanges.
