Robinhood Sees Explosive Growth in Crypto Prediction-Market Revenue
Rapid growth in prediction-market revenue has driven Robinhood's expansion into crypto and economic event contracts, according to a report from Zacks Investment Research. The company's revenue from these activities jumped more than tenfold year over year to $156 million in the second quarter of 2026, with contract trading hitting a record 13.6 billion in the same period.
The shift towards non-sports event contracts comes as Robinhood faces regulatory scrutiny in several states, including Missouri and Michigan. CEO Vlad Tenev has stated that crypto-linked event contracts are taking a disproportionate share of activity on the platform, with sports eventually making up a minority of overall prediction-market volume.
Rivera added that the company is routing event contracts to Rothera, a CFTC-licensed exchange and clearinghouse run through Robinhood's joint venture with Susquehanna International Group. The partnership generated $17 million of Robinhood's second-quarter event-contract revenue.
