Robinhood Snags Early UK Crypto Reg Approval Amid Regulatory Overhaul
Rhbinhood has secured registration to provide cryptocurrency services in the United Kingdom, giving it an early regulatory foothold before the country introduces a more extensive digital asset framework.
The company's U.K. business was added to the Financial Conduct Authority's register of approved cryptoasset companies on July 31, confirming that Robinhood meets the regulator's requirements under the country's anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing regime.
The registration allows Robinhood to offer crypto-related services while remaining subject to FCA supervision in areas including customer checks, transaction monitoring, financial crime controls, and reporting obligations.
This authorization is not a complete U.K. approval process but reduces one regulatory barrier before the application window opens for firms that need to meet the wider requirements of the incoming framework.
