Robinhood Stock Plummets on CEO Account Hack
Robinhood's stock price slumped by over 5% on Monday after a cybersecurity incident involving CEO Vlad Tenev's social media account. The breach allowed for the promotion of a fake memecoin called VLADhood, which resulted in losses exceeding $1.2 million in ETH.
The security incident has raised concerns about operational risks and potential vulnerabilities within Robinhood's systems. This comes as the company's new Ethereum Layer-2 blockchain network recently surpassed 300,000 daily active addresses and attracted over $700 million in assets.
According to technical analysis, Robinhood is trading below its 20-day and 200-day moving averages, indicating pressure from sellers in both the short- and long-term. The stock's position above the 50-day moving average provides moderate medium-term support, but near-term ceiling at $98.61 remains elusive.
