Robinhood Surges Past Q2 Revenue Expectations Amid Crypto Decline
Robinhood's Q2 revenue reached a record $1.31 billion, representing a year-over-year increase of 32%. The company's strong performance was driven by growth across options, equities, and event contracts, which surged during the quarter. Wall Street had predicted $1.26 billion in revenue for Robinhood during Q2.
Despite the impressive numbers, Robinhood's crypto business struggled, with revenue declining 38% year-over-year to $100 million. This decline can be attributed to a broader downturn in the cryptocurrency market due to geopolitical and policy headwinds. The company reported record trading activity, including an equity notional trading volume of $956 billion and 774 million options contracts.
Robinhood's net income grew 48% year-over-year to $573 million, while diluted earnings per share increased 48% to $0.62. The quarterly results also include $129 million in gains tied to the deconsolidation of the Robinhood Ventures Fund I. CEO Vlad Tenev stated that the company is focused on making everyone an owner, with a goal of increasing product velocity.
