Robinhood Teams Up With Crypto.com for Regulated Event Contracts
Routine for routing football event contracts on Robinhood's Crypto.com prediction markets partnership is scheduled to begin on September 8, according to the company's Newsroom. This marks a significant development in the crypto and financial services space as volume drivers are now being directed towards regulated exchanges.
The move sees Robinhood partnering with multiple CFTC-licensed venues, including Crypto.com, OG.com, Kalshi, and Rothera, which will handle event contracts on behalf of users. The partnership shows where the volume is already going, with a reported 13.6 billion event contracts traded in Q2 alone.
Routine for routing midterms contracts to Kalshi and Rothera has been established but expansion to Crypto.com and OG.com is possible within weeks. Traders tend to price football and election contracts quickly due to their visible feeds, scores or vote counts, which track with news flow.
This signals a shift in the venue stack as it consolidates around CFTC-licensed exchanges. The opportunity lies not in launching another matching engine but in data and tooling, such as live stats, team standings, vote counts, and combo construction. Crypto.com's Kris Marszalek sees OG.com becoming the most liquid venue for derivatives starting with prediction markets then futures and perpetuals.
