Robinhood Teases Memecoin Expansion Amid Crypto Momentum
Roland Tenev, CEO of Robinhood, has sparked speculation about the trading platform's potential expansion into the memecoin market. This comes after a user named Value revived a July post calling for memecoins to be listed on Robinhood.
The timing is notable given Robinhood's recent momentum in crypto, particularly following the launch of its Ethereum-compatible Layer 2, Robinhood Chain. The network has quickly become a major venue for speculative trading and even generated more chain fees than Solana, Base, and Ethereum last month, according to Arkham.
Robinhood has a history with memecoins, having listed Dogecoin in July 2018 and Shiba Inu in April 2022. The company's current crypto lineup includes various meme tokens, including Pepe, Bonk, and Floki.
