Robinhood's Big Bet on Tokenization: A Shift in the Crypto Landscape

Share

Roland Quittner, the founder of the popular cryptocurrency wallet app, Robinhood, is betting big on the future of tokenization. In a recent CNBC interview, he stated that 'crypto is becoming the infrastructure that powers financial markets.' He believes this shift will democratize access to U.S. stocks for overseas investors and make it easier for smaller retail investors to buy tokenized slices of pre-IPO companies.

Roland Quittner's vision involves expanding Robinhood's platform to include more tokenized assets, including real-world assets such as stocks, bonds, commodities, real estate, and fine art. Tokenization allows these traditional assets to be digitized into tokens on a blockchain, providing instant liquidity and eliminating the need for physical storage.

The market is already booming, with deposits of tokenized RWAs across all blockchains more than tripling year over year in the second quarter of 2026 to $7.4 billion, according to CoinShares. Robinhood's early mover advantage in this nascent market could pay off as more investors tokenize their assets.
